Oklahoma Meet Ford’s High-End F-150 Models for 2010

Thursday, January 28th, 2010

If the terms “desert racing,” “custom” and “luxury” don’t immediately come to mind when you think about pickup trucks, they will after you take a look at the high end of the 2010 Ford F-150 lineup.

Ford has long been America’s pickup truck innovator, so it’s no surprise that you’ll find four distinct high-end models in the nine-model F-150 line for 2010: SVT Raptor, King Ranch, Platinum and Harley-Davidson editions. The F-150 SVT Raptor is based on the SuperCab body; the others are all based on the four-door SuperCrew.

A creation of Ford’s Special Vehicle Team, the 2010 F-150 SVT Raptor (MSRP $38,020) is a high-performance off-road truck inspired by Baja desert racers. The Raptor not only looks the part of a tough race truck, it has the performance and chassis to back up its menacing looks. The standard engine is a 310-hp Electronic Fuel Injection (EFI) 5.4-liter FlexFuel (FFV) V8. Long-travel suspension with special shock absorbers enables the Raptor to comparatively glide over off-road obstacles – and the harsh pavement of an urban streetscape. A plethora of advanced chassis control technologies, including Hill Descent Control, Electronic Locking Differential and Trailer Sway Control, equip the Raptor to handle the rigors of any road or trail.

At the other end of the spectrum, Ford offers its top F-150 for 2010, the Ford F-150 Harley-Davidson (MSRP $42,690). No, it doesn’t come with a Harley in the bed! But it does celebrate the long heritage of both Ford and Harley-Davidson with special styling and paint. Its interior recalls the amazing attention to detail found on Harley-Davidson motorcycles, particularly the high-end touring bikes.

The 2010 Ford F-150 is for you Oklahoma

Sunday, October 25th, 2009

The 2010 model year marks a series of milestones for Ford, not the least of which is the reinvigoration of the company’s flagship truck, the F-150. This year, Ford’s iconic pickup returns with even more innovation, style and strength than ever before, as well as an all-new high-performance model.

Arriving in nine Ford-tough models – ranging from the base XL to the top-of-the-line Harley Davidson Edition – and featuring Regular, Super and Crew cabs, the 2010 F-150 is, without question, back with a vengeance. This year’s model is more appealing than ever, combining exaggerated, powerful features with sleek, commanding styling cues.

Outside, the design is simple, yet striking. The oversized chrome grille sits prominently in the middle of the F-150’s athletic face, sandwiched between wraparound headlamps and available bumper-integrated foglamps. Available 20-inch polished cast-aluminum wheels set a solid base for a sleek body that features very little flare, and a whole lot of function. The frame itself is best in class; it’s made from innovative hydroformed steel to be stronger than any other truck in its segment, and it forms the unyielding backbone of Ford’s most recent F-150.

Veggie-Powered Ford Pickups!

Ford introduces new vegetable-powered pickup.

Ford introduces new vegetable-powered pickup.

The State Fair of Texas may be known for serving up carnivore-pleasing treats like Chicken Fried Bacon and Deep Fried Butter, but Ford used the venue to introduce its new vegetable-powered pickup.

The 2011 Ford F-Series Super Duty will be available with either an E85 ethanol-capable 6.2 liter V8, or a turbocharged 6.7 liter diesel V8 that can run on B20 biodiesel fuel, 20% of which is derived from agricultural sources. It is believed to be the first diesel engine offered by a major manufacturer in the United States to be factory-approved to run on a blend greater than B5.

While Ford has not yet revealed specific horsepower or fuel efficiency figures for the Super Duty, it says that the truck will be able to tow a class-leading 16.5 tons of corn and soybeans to the refinery.

Since biodiesel can also be produced from used cooking oil, the folks from Ford might want to think about cleaning out the deep fryers at the fair before they head back to Michigan.
