Perhaps one of the most successful programs to come from the stimulus package was recently extended. With an infusion of an extra $2 billion for the program car buyers and dealers have some breathing room to work with. The Cash for Clunkers program allows consumers to trade in their less than fuel efficient vehicle for a brand new fuel efficient vehicle, receiving up to $4500 for their old clunker.
The initial $1 billion set aside for the program ran out in a matter of days but thanks to fast acting Congressional members from both the House and Senate (both sides of the aisle I might add) the Cash for Clunkers program will continue to run.
